Nordiska Ekonomie Studerandes Union, NESU, is a non-profit organization aimed for university level business students in the Nordic countries and it’s main purpose is to enhance inter-Nordic co-operation between students.
NESU works both on Nordic and national level. On the national level, NESU for example organizes excursions, arranges parties or cultural events, or holds meetings on different NESU matters. NESU offers its members an efficient way to get to know Nordic business life and create a network of contacts between Nordic business students.
The main function of NESU is to organize semi-annual conferences in some Nordic university city. Every spring and autumn, NESU-members from different Nordic countries gather to spend a week together and participate in different activities. Conferences play a very important role in enhancing the inter-Nordic relations of NESU-members and in supporting networking and co-operation.
Every conference has a specific theme and the program of the conference-week revolves around this theme. Themes are chosen by the organizing team and they relate to business studies. The theme of the week will be discussed in company visits, lectures and workshops.
Besides this formal program, the week includes also more relaxed evening program. This enables participants to get to know each other better and form even wider networks between Nordic business students.
Conferences are organized by an organizing team of about 6 to 15 members. Organizers are local NESU-members and business students as well, and are responsible for all aspects of the week. The team arranges the financing, corporate relations, accommodation, transportation, catering, program etc. for the whole week. Since NESU is a non-profit organization, conferences are financed mainly by entrance fees and corporate co-operation as well as donations.
